How to Remove Pink Coating After Pickling When Soldering Brass and Copper

by Karen on April 18, 2012

The first time I soldered Copper and Brass together I was surprised to find a pink coating on the jewelry after putting the soldered piece in the pickle. I used to use either a brass brush, steel wool, or polishing tool on my Foredom to remove the coating. Of course this would also remove some of the texturing. After a search on the Internet I discovered that mixing 2 parts Hydrogen Peroxide with 3 parts White Vinegar creates a solution that removes the coating within 15 minutes to a half hour! Just drop the piece into the solution after removing from the pickle and magically the pink disappears! 🙂
